Making homemade paint is always a fun activity to do with children. It’s ideal for rainy days, sensory exploration or just plain fun!
Ingredients
1/2 cup flour
1 cup water
pinch of salt
Squeeze of Bubble Bath
Food Colouring
Method
On a gentle heat mix the flour and water together in a pot. Whisk with a fork until the mixture turns into a thick paste. Remove from heat add a pinch of salt and a dollop of bubble bath. Slowly add water until you get to the desired consistency.
Divide the paint into three parts and place in sandwich bags. Add a few drops of food colouring to each bag until you reach your desired colour. You can get your child to give the bags a good squeeze and a squish (making sure the top is secure) to mix the colour in well.
Place each colour in an old jam jar, get some paint brushes and have fun! You can pop the jam jar lids back on when the activity is finished and use at a later date.
