These spooky spiders are a great Halloween party snack. They don’t just taste great, they are healthy too! Within these delicious little snack balls, you’ll find the perfect combination of fats, protein, and carbs. These power pack spiders contain almonds, which are full of amino acids, which in turn create serotonin, serotonin creates a feeling of well-being in the body. So nibbling away at these snacks will ensure your kids have Happy Halloween!
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients – Makes 8-10
100g roasted almonds
150g medjool dates (pitted)
2tbsp cocoa powder
3tsp coconut oil
Candy Eyes (found in the baking aisle)
Chocolate Sticks (cut in half)
Melt 1tsp of coconut oil in an oven (preheated to 180oC). When the oil is melted, add the nuts and make sure they are completely coated with oil. Bake for 5 minutes
When the nuts are roasted, whizz them up in a food processor until they are finely ground.
Next add the cinnamon, dates, honey, cocoa powder, and coconut oil. Whizz up again until it all sticks together.
Roll the mixture into small balls. The recipe should make about 8-10 balls. Pop the chocolate sticks into the body to make spiders legs and place the candy eyes onto the balls.
They can be eaten straight away or stored in the fridge for 7 days.
